Ministry of Railways Approved Three Project of Doubling and Flyover

  Ministry of Railways approved the following Projects:-

1.      Project of Doubling of Jaunpur- Akbarpur (Tanda).- Northern Railway.
2.      Project of  Doubling of New Maynaguri-Gumanihat (51.65km) in Northeast Frontier Railway.
3.      Project of  Etawah Flyover 10.978 km in North Central Railway.

Salient Features of Projects Approved:-

1.      Project Doubling of Jaunpur- Akbarpur (Tanda).- Northern Railway
Sanction of project of doubling of Jaunpur- Akbarpur (Tanda) 77.25 km long section in Northern Railways

Safety Measures At Unmanned Level Crossings

Following two trial projects are in progress for ensuring safety at unmanned level crossings:-
            (i) Development and implementation of Satellite based system for warning at unmanned level crossing gates of Indian Railways has been undertaken by Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO)/Ministry of Railways and Space Applications Centre/Indian Space Research Organisation (SAC/ISRO).

Ministry of Railways - Chemisty Stalls at Railways Stations

To augment the emergency medical facilities at railway stations, policy guidelines for setting up of chemist stalls/corners are already in vogue vide Commercial Circular number 50/2000 dated 03.11.2000 and Commercial Circular number 67/2008 dated 02.12.2008 wherein Zonal Railways have been advised  to provide Chemist Stalls at all A1 Category of stations.  At present, 21 exclusive chemist stalls are operational on Indian Railways. The names of stations where chemist stalls as provided by Zonal Railways are Appended.  

Ministry of Railways - Different Types of Goods Wagons

There are 2,58,584 different types of wagons available over Indian Railways.  The zone-wise holding of wagons are as under:

Indian Railways to launch several new train services on different routes – Here's the complete list
New Delhi: Indian Railways is launching several new train services on different routes that will benefit thousands of passengers from UP, Odisha, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir.
While some of these services were on Saturday launched by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, few others would be launched by Prabhu and Minister of State for Communications Manoj Sinha on Sunday.

Installation of Display Screens At Railway Stations

Railways propose to install display screens at foot-over bridges, platforms, waiting rooms etc. at Railway Stations under Railway Display Network (RDN) project.  RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of Ministry of Railways, has been appointed as Nodal Agency to implement and manage Indian Railway’s RDN system.

Steps to Promote use of clean fuels in Indian Railways

Railways are taking the following steps to promote use of clean fuels and reduce   carbon emissions:
(i)                 Use of B5 (5% Bio-Diesel) blends of bio diesel in the diesel locomotives.
(ii)               Use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) based dual fuel system on DEMU trains to achieve 20% substitution of Diesel with gas.
(iii)             Development of CNG based dual fuel system with 40% substitution of diesel for high economy and environmental benefit.

Makinng Railway Stations and Trains Disabled-Friendly

In order to provide better accessibility to Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), short term facilities, as detailed below, have been planned at all stations, beginning with ‘A-1’, ‘A’ and ‘B’ category stations:-
• Standard ramp for barrier free entry
• Earmarking at least two parking lots
• Non-slippery walk-way from parking lot to building

Crackdown on Touts, Unauthorised Ticketing Agencies and Illegal Vendors at Railway Stations

A special drive was launched by all Zonal Railways during summer period from 01.04.2017 to 30.06.2017 to conduct checks in mass contact areas. The drive was aimed at curbing malpractices of touting activities, ticketless passengers, misuse of facilities of e-ticketing etc.
An amount ofIndian Rupee (INR)1.18 crore (approx) was recovered during the special drive.

Ministry of Railways - Measures to Improve Catering Services in Indian Railways

 Indian Railways is taking several measures to improve catering services on over its network.  It is emphasised that improvement of catering being an on-going process. A new Catering Policy has been notified on 27 February, 2017 wherein with the objective to provide quality food to rail passengers, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), a PSU of Ministry of RailwaysRail has been mandated to unbundle catering services on trains by creating a distinction primarily between  food  preparation  and  food   distribution. IRCTC shall set up new kitchens and upgrade existing ones. These kitchens will be owned, operated and managed by IRCTC.  IRCTC shall retain the ownership and shall be fully accountable for all the issues pertaining to setting up and operation of the Base Kitchens and quality of food. All four Base Kitchens under departmental operation of Zonal Railways (Nagpur, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)Mumbai Central (BCT) and Balharshah) and all kitchen units i.e. Refreshment Rooms at A1 and A category stations, Jan Ahaar, Cell Kitchens shall be handed over to IRCTC on ‘as is where is basis’. In the first phase, unbundling of catering services is under implementation on Delhi – Mumbai Sector.  Base kitchens & Jan Ahaars at CSMT  and BCT  have been taken over by IRCTC from Zonal Railways. 

Ministry of Railways is launching various new train services

Indian Railways is launching several new train services on different routes during this weekend (12th &13th August,2017). Thousand of passengers from the states of UP, Odisha, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat & Jammu & Kashmir will benefit from these services.
