Woman Railway Gatekeeper attacked
A woman Railway Gatekeeper was allegedly assaulted by some miscreants when she refused to open the gate at a railway crossing here.
The miscreants wanted the level crossing gate between Aralvaymoli and North Panakudi stations to be opened on Friday. However, since the gate was closed for the train to go, the official declined as signals to the train had already been cleared, a railway press release said here today.
This provoked them and they attacked the Gatekeeper Jhansi who has been admitted to Medical college hospital at Asaripallam.
The miscreants have been arrested.

Over 800 BPSC candidates protest at railway station
Over 800 Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates today protested at Kishanganj railway station after failing to appear at the exam centre on time alleging late running of trains.
The protesting BPSC candidates gathered at Kishanganj railway station where they raised slogans against railway authorities for delayed arrival of trains and thus denied chance to write papers, District Magistrate Animesh Kumar Parasar said.

COIMBATORE: Members of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) staged a demonstration in Chettipalayam on Sunday urging the panchayat administration to mobilise fund to construct a railway station there.
MDMK state youth wing secretary V Eswaran, who led the protest, said, “Since 2012, a series of protests including signature campaigns, demonstrations, were held pressing the demand to reopen the railway halt at Chettipalayam village, which was closed few decades ago. Based on the demand, on November last, the Southern Railway proposed to reopen it under Shradhan scheme, if the Chettipalayam town panchayat administration could spend about `49 lakh for constructing a railway station there with basic amenities.”
